Dirty Girl Traci Cecco Cleans Up In Kentucky
GNCC Round 7
The Spartan, Sparta, KY

Tracy shown here on the podium - included in her winnings was a substantial amount of Kentucky mud that was awarded for her efforts.

The Spartan GNCC race in Sparta, KY will always be remembered as the beginning of Traci's 4 race win streak in 2003 that would eventually lead her to her 3rd GNCC Championship.

By the time Saturday afternoon rolled by Traci would have conquered a mud infested Spartan race track for the 2nd time in 2 years with a convincing lead from start to finish including a spectacular podium show. All day Friday thru mid afternoon the Kentucky skies dumped over 3 inches of rain onto the soft clay based track and would later open up for an all night long steady rain shower that would last into the early hours of Saturday.

Off the Start Traci Cecco rockets her Alba Actionsports YFZ450 with a holeshot to the first turn and pulls a 3 bike length lead by the second turn as the rest of the field enter the 9 mile woods track. By the end of the first lap Cecco waves off her pit crew and elects to not change gloves or goggles and holds on to the lead as Honda of Troys Stephanie Parton keeps Cecco in sight as they cross the start / finish line and head off back into the now deeply rutted and bottlenecked course full of over 300 riders. As the race would go on for the next 2 laps Traci pulls from the rest of her class picking good lines and eventually winning by over 6 minutes to second place finisher Baldwin Motorsports Angel Atwell. On the podium Cecco agrees to a fans request for a "burnout" as she smokes off her tires in celebration...

Traci aces the hole-shot off the start, edging out the competition

Traci said after the race..."I had a great race today" "I pulled the holeshot and took an early lead which is exactly what I wanted to do to save my goggles and gloves from getting full of roost" "I paced the first lap pretty slow as the ground was very slick since there were no ruts to keep you in line thru the trees" "On the second and third laps I picked up my pace and just rode smart" "The course official told us before the race that it would only be 3 laps so I knew were I had to be and when it would be over" " I cannot say enough about my Alba Action Sports YFZ, Lonestar Chassis, Axis Suspension, Maxxis Tires and Tire Balls which all combined gave me the traction and control I needed today" " My Smith goggles and Spider grips worked great all day" "To all my sponsors and fans - Thank You!"
