Alba's Traci Cecco shown here with her Manager,
Organizer, Mechanic, Publicist, and Husband,
Rick. |
This past weekends
weather was a perfect 75 degrees with clear skies
at the popular McHenry Maryland Ski / Golf Resort
- The Wisp. For the past 2 years the Wisp GNCC has
been known to be a very rock technical course with
some ultra fast hill climbs up and down the ski
slopes - the starting line is a beautiful driving
range that goes along with their world class golf
course!
Off the start Traci Cecco pulls the holeshot with
Baldwin Motorsports Angel Atwell a few places behind
and Honda of Troy's Stephanie Parton battling for
3rd overall position of the 10 rider Women's class
field. From the first lap thru the 4th lap Traci
Cecco holds a steady 3 to 30 second lead over Parton
to set the pace going into the final 4th lap. At
the 7 mile marker of the 4th lap Cecco's Yamaha
starts to intermittently break up as her lead slowly
deteriorates as her machine dies 3 miles from the
finish.
I could not believe
my tether cord disconnected out on the track today
- I have never seen that happen before
After finding
her Tether cord (safety switch) disconnected Cecco
is off an running to run down Parton who had passed
during her troubles. Just as Cecco caught site of
Parton a lapped rider stalls in the tight trail
with no way around. At the end Cecco passes Brenda
Kress who had unknowing taken over second place
while Traci was stalled to finish 46 seconds behind
Parton.
I am going to keep
my head up - I have to win the next 4 rounds to win
the championship. 2004 has been my most trying year
from breaking my arm to just off the wall stuff like
this tether cord - I mean how can you prepare for
that not to happen? I have been in these shoes before
of having to win several races at the end and I will
do it again "I had a
great race going today" "All I wanted was
a very smooth uneventful win to start getting my points
back towards a Championship" "I could not
believe my tether cord disconnected out on the track
today - I have never seen that happen before"
"I would also like to thank all my sponsors
for the great equipment I am riding on and how grateful
I am for you support - We'll get'em" |
