Kory Ellis Cleans House at Loretta Lynn's
MX GNC6/22/02
Loretta
Lynn's GNC is in a somewhat inhospitable area. It's hot - and not
that hot that you can easily get away from, but the hot that makes
you feel slow and instantly sticky - which makes it very difficult
to do anything - much less, win a ATV MX race. But that's exactly
what Team Alba's Kory Ellis did in the Pro Production class.
"Despite
the heat, I felt surprisingly good" stated
Ellis after the race. "I
wasn't completely ready, but it worked out well nonetheless"
Due
to some electrical problems with his LTZ, Ellis switched to his
Yamaha YFZ-450 test bike - and managed to pilot it to the win. And
not just any win, but Yamaha's first pro production win with the
smokin' new YFZ. Finishing second in the first moto and first in
the second moto was exactly what was needed to clinch the win in
the Pro Production class. However the second moto required some
serious riding to bring Ellis back to the front from a mediocre
start.
Ellis
almost got his production Yamaha on the podium in the Pro class
as well - finishing an impressive 4th overall against a host of
highly modified pro quads.
