| Last
week, some of the fastest vehicles in the world of off-road
racing gathered in southern Nevada for the start of
the Best in the Desert Nevada 1000. A grueling 3-day
endurance race, this event would find Team Alba overcoming
some technical difficulties to once again achieve a
second place finish. Racers Wayne Matlock and Danny
Prather started the first leg of the 1000 mile event,
18th off the line. They soon charged their way to third
and were making a pass for second when 150 miles into
the first leg bad luck struck in the form of a flat
tire, causing them to finish the leg 20 minutes behind
the leaders.
Day
two went flawlessly, allowing Team Alba to make up time
on the overall leaders and be the fastest team of the
day. Day three found Team Alba first off the line and
only a minute behind the overall race leaders but again
technical gremlins would hinder the racers. First it
was another flat tire and then it was electrical problems.
Racer Wayne Matlock had to push his bike 1.5 miles in
order to jump start a bad battery which effectively
ruined their chances to catch the eventual race winners.
Team
Alba’s next race is the Desert Mile in Imperial Valley.
