GNCC Round 8
Summerville, WV

"The track had a lot of different obstacles
like a rock garden, a hill climb, and the log
section, which made the race challenging and
fun."

Chris Borich Start:
My Alba Action Honda 450R started on the
1st kick and I was in 4th going into the woods.
1st
On the first lap, I was in 4th for probably 3 miles until
I clipped a log in the trail. The log turned me sideways and
I ended up in 7th or 8th. At about the 5 mile marker there
was a sick hill climb. Ballance was the only one to make it
through unscathed. When I got there everyone in front of me
was stuck, but I saw an alternate line. The line added about
30 seconds, but I figured it would be quicker than sitting
there trying to make it up that hill. As I took the line,
I looked back and saw everyone still stuck on the hill, so
I knew it was a good decision. I realized I was in 2nd because
I saw Smiley stuck on the hill. At that point I focused on
catching Ballance, who was out front all alone. He actually
had about 40 seconds on me after the first lap.
2nd
On the second lap I knew I had to charge and try to catch
Bill Ballance. Everyone was cheering me on and I felt great.
I could see his dust around the 3 or 4 miler marker and then
around the 5 mile marker I actually saw him try to go up that
hill climb. He actually got stuck, so I took my alternate
line again. When I got to the top of the hill climb, I had
gotten around him and led until the motocross section. Balance
passed me in the motocross section and I just followed him
to watch what he was doing. We pitted at the end of the 2nd
lap since we were so far out front.
3rd
During the third lap, Ballance and I were neck and neck the
whole lap. We just basically swapped back and forth. When
we got to the hill climb, we saw lappers everywhere, so we
both took the alternate line. We kept swapping back and forth
and when we got to the motocross section, we both launched
over the double double jumps and finished out the third lap.
4th
During the 4th lap, it was basically the two of us pulling
away from everyone else and battling back and forth for the
lead.
5th
For the final lap, it was Balance 1st and me in 2nd. We swapped
back and forth a few times, and we got to a section with a
downhill, man-made section of fallen trees. Ballance took
a better line and was able to pinch me off at the end of that
section because there was only room for one quad to get through.
He just had a better line and was able to hold me off. We
ended up into the motocross section heading for the checker,
where Ballance is really hard to pass. I finished in 2nd place
right on Ballance’s bumper.

Traci Cecco Shown Here In Front of
Last Year's Champion and Current Series Points Leader

Morning Race
Traci Cecco Women's Pro
Traci Cecco also had a yo-yo of a race. With
a great start, Traci quickly pulled into the Women's Pro lead,
only to spin out and find herself at the back of the pack.
She quickly carved her way back through the field, again grabbing
the lead. However, she then got stuck in a nasty mud rut which
took her priceless minutes and some serious strained mussels
to get free of. This set her a way off the pace and she had
a hard time getting going. But like the champion she is, once
she got going, she hurried her way back up to Women's 3rd,
just a few minutes off the pace.
Traci's run this weekend is one of a true professional.
She showed determination and that "Never Give Up"
attitude that is the hallmark of a champion. Traci goes into
GNCC Race 9 just a few points off the series championship
- which she has already captured 3 times.

Harlen Foley Four-Stroke Stock Finishes
2nd Overall in the Morning Race On his LTZ400 for his
1st Podium of the Year |
Harlen Foley, also racing for Team Alba in the
Four-Stroke Stock division had a similar race to Traci, coming
out in a good position but getting briefly stuck in a mud
hole. Harlen screamed his way through the pack, passing everything
in his path to a 2nd place overall finish - his first podium
of the season. Congratulations on a great ride Harlen.
