GNCC Round 3
The General -Washington , GA
Coming
off a nasty crash only a week ago, Team Alba's Traci Cecco
proves just how tough she really is. With a special football
style neck padding, she took to the rough conditions of track
to emerge victorious. In fact, Traci is just 2 points out
of first place so far. The GNCC Womens' race is shaping up
to be a great battle.
For the third race in a row Chris
Borich was on fire. In fact, the only thing that kept him
off the top of the podium was a mud pit a quarter mile from
the finish that opened the door for Ballance to regain his
lead. Borich maintains an impressive lead in the series over
Ballance, Yokley and Smiley.

The Track was very rough. There were only a
few mud holes, but they were all pretty brutal. The track
was tight and rough. My Alba Action 450R worked awesome! The
Custom Axis shocks and ARS FX swingarm and A-Arms worked incredibly
well with my Maxxis tires and Hiper Wheels. My Spider grips
did the best they could to protect my hands as well. The Pro
Armor skids and bumpers did an excellent job of protecting
my quad, and my Moose gear did a great job of protecting me!
This Honda is the best performance quad money can buy. It’s
so good, I’m actually able to race it at this level
without having to replace many of the stock parts.
The
Start
My Alba Action 450R fired up on the first
kick. There was a pile of us together going into the first
corner and I was probably 6th or 7th on first turn. By the
3rd turn was hard on the gas and found myself in third place.
As we headed into the first lap, it was Chris Jenks, followed
by Jeremy Rice, then myself. I passed Rice after the first
few miles and worked on catching Jenks. With me in 2nd place,
Bill Balance was right on my tail. Jenks had about a 30 second
lead until Balance and I were able to get around Rice. We
caught up to him pretty quickly, but the order stayed that
way the 1st lap.
Mid Race
Starting the 2nd lap, it was Jenks, me, then Balance. Balance
and I caught Jenks and the three of us rolled through the
woods like a train. Balance and I swapped back and forth between
2nd and third. At the end of the 2nd lap, Balance and I both
pitted, but Jenks kept going,
After my pit crew fueled me and gave me new
Scott goggles and Moose gloves, I tore off trying to catch
Jenks. Balance had the same idea. Bill and I caught Jenks
and we both passed him in the motocross section. I let Bill
by on the motocross section because I knew there was a double
jump coming up. I wanted to watch him hit the double to see
how he was setting up for it. Bill’s a pretty good jumper,
and I knew if I didn’t double it also, he’d get
away from me. So I watched what he did and then hit it at
the same pace. Jenks pitted late in the lap and Balance and
I fought it out passing back and forth.
Finish
Going into the forth lap, it was just Bill
and I at front battling it out with each. We also had some
difficulty getting through lappers. Bill had about a 15 second
lead and made some better decisions with the lappers than
I did. Approaching the end of the fourth lap, right after
the scoring tent, I tried the mudpit. You could either take
the short way through the mud, or go the long way around the
mud. I chanced it through the mud and it allowed me to make
up the time to catch back up to Balance. The mud hole was
actually easier than I thought, but just in case, I had people
to push if I didn’t make it.
On the final lap, I basically just followed
Balance watching him - waiting to strike in the last two miles
or so. I knew a better line was there so I took it and passed
him. He immediately passed me back. About ½ mile from
the finish, I knew there was another line and this would probably
be the last chance for me to get around him. There was a lapper
in front of Balance, so I took the alternate line and was
able to go around and get about ten seconds on him. We then
came to another mud pit. We both hit it. I went to the right,
Ballance went to the left. I ended up getting stuck and Bill
passed me for the lead and the win. The top three finishers
were Bill Ballance, Me, and Chris Jenks about 1:30 behind
us.

GNCC Women's Race
Traci Cecco Wins the general GNCC Round
3 in Washington, GA
Race Report by: Rick Cecco
Round 3 of the GNCC series found
us in Washington, GA with cloudy skies and mid 50 to 60's
temperatures with 20-30 MPH wind gusts that would take a few
EZ-UP's by surprise once in a while but would also aid in
clearing the dusty sections of the track immediately. Overall
the track was in excellent condition with it taking on rain
about a week prior forming some deep mudholes in the lower
elevations including about 1 mile of MX course and the rest
would be tight woods with a few long wide open field sections
to top it off.
"I
had a good feeling about the outcome of the race after walking
the track yesterday and seeing a few long field sections &
a good mile of MX track - these were the areas I knew I could
pull on my class easily" "Last
week in Florida I could easily pull them in the rough field
sections which just shows how well Alba has my quads motor
& suspension dialed in this year"

The Start
Traci Cecco was coming into the race with hopes of collecting
some points and just finishing the race with a badly sprained
neck that would only give her about 30% mobility of her head
to look side to side. With only a week to prepare and condition
for the upcoming race Traci showed her true grit by logging
over 10 hours of Physical Therapy that included Ultrasounds,
Heat wraps and off course some quality hot tub time in 3 days
to try and loosen up her badly swollen neck that she injured
during a wreck on the start of last weeks Orange Crush GNCC.
With the aid of a sports neck collar
to help try and limit her head's mobility and protect her
neck from any further injury Traci took her game to the starting
line.
"I
got the holeshot and lead for the first 1/2 mile but Angel
& Stephanie picked a better line and passed so I just
singled in behind them and followed" "Their was
a field section coming up were I knew I could make my move
- it had a kicker with danger signs after about 100 yards
which did not look that bad so I held it wide open and passed
both Angel & Stephanie to take the lead"
Off the start Traci Cecco once
again pulls the trigger the quickest easily taking the holeshot
ahead of Baldwin Motorsports Angel Atwell & Suzuki's Stephanie
Parton to pull an early lead on the 10 rider field thru a
small MX portion of the track and off into the woods. Within
the first mile Cecco would get passed by Atwell and then Parton
as they picked a better line thru the tress and the race was
on.
"After
the first few miles of woods I figured out that I just could
not go the pace I am use to since I basically had tunnel vision
from not being able to turn my head which affected my ability
to see different lines or even lean into a corner as much
as I am use to so I just held a cautious pace thru the woods
and planned make up time up in the fields & MX course"
" The MX course is what really saved me today since I
could put 15-20 seconds on the pack since I was doing the
all the doubles & tabletop jumps" "I always
had a nice cushion after every field & MX section but
Angel & Stephanie was catching me in the woods"
At the 4 mile marker the woods
would open up to a long straight field section with a kicker
jump about 3/4 way thru the field - Here Cecco would take
her Alba Action Sports YFZ450 to the front and never look
back! Parton and Atwell would battle back and forth for 2nd
place for the remainder of the 4 laps race as Cecco would
get a glimpse of them once in a while trying better lines
thru the Georgia woods. At the end of the race Cecco, Parton
and Atwell would finish only seconds apart with Cecco taking
her 2nd win of the year.
Traci spoke after the race:
"I cannot
wait till the next race and be able to give it 100%"
"I would really like to say thanks to my family &
sponsors for all their support & words of encouragement
this past week"
