Alba Wraps Up the Season On Top
ITP Quadcross Season Finale
Glen Helen, CA
December 2, 2007
The cosolodated team effort for Alba racing really payed off this year. With a Championship for Steve Beilman, Mark Rhodes and Jeff Cale, and a Second Place season for Mike Sorchy and Clark Evernham, it's hard to deny the synergistic effect of the cooperative race effort. Hats off to long-time Alba Pro Rider, Kory Ellis - who took the ITP Pro Title (eventhough he no longer races for Team Alba). Danny Ragan, new to Team Alba Racing this year was on top of the Open Pro category for much of the season but was narowly edged out by Darrell Patton in the end.
Beilman, Rhodes and Cale pretty much dominated their respective fields throughout the season. Evernham would have taken the championship in his class, but was unable to attend one of the races, taking a serious hit on points. Sorchy had a strong battle right up to the end - and went into the last moto of the season in the points lead. A spectacular late race wipe-out right in front of the Glen Helen grandstand was enough to bump him from the top of the podium for the season.
Special thanks goes out to Ryan Neufeld, whose valuable support and ongoing assistance throughout the season help to make sure that every Team Alba ATV was in prime shape and that ever rider was on top of their game. Steve Beilman also went above and beyond the call of duty and was pretty much the catalyst holding the team together, providing support to all of the team sponsors and comforting the younger riders when they got homesick on the long away races.
Perhaps, the most important race of the entire day was held in the pits - the Traxxas RC car competition. [see video] All of the top racers gathered with their Top RC cars on a hand crafted track that had all the challenges of a Supercross with the speed of a super speedway. But don't think this was some kids game. These professional racers were serious - and three was some serious green on the line! After intense competition and some of the most wicked wrecks and costly damage, Dustin Nelson proved that he was top dog, taking home the cash and, most importantly, bragging rights. |
