Rhino Performance Clutch Upgrades
There are two main options when dealing with the Rhino clutch:

  A) Modifying the stock clutch

B) Installing new “Race” clutch

A: Stock Cutch Modification

The stock clutch modifications are recommended for most Rhino owners. They are very reliable, require less maintenance and provide a good level of performance.

There are three main areas of the stock clutch which we modify/enhance:

1) Rhino Sheave – Increases Top Speed      a) $125.99 w/core exchange
                                                                         b) $289.99 no core exchange

2) Clutch Springs & Sheave Weights

Changing the springs for the secondary sliding sheave will help manipulate progression rate and engagement RPM. ($30 each)

  1. Blue Spring (YDS1) slightly stiffer than stock spring
  2. Orange Spring (YDS3) stiffer than blue spring
  3. White Spring (YDS5) stiffer than orange Spring

Clutch Sheave Weights – Different weights have a direct affect on both progression rate and engagement RPM.

Choose from: 14 gram, 16 gram, or 18 gram weights

3) Weighted Wet Clutch – Increases centrifugal force, allowing increased load capacity for modified engines as well as 4-person configurations. We have had good luck with adding weight to the wet clutch shoes. This allows the clutch to lock up harder resulting in quicker acceleration and makes it less likely to slip. ($85 w/core exchange)

B: Installing a New Race Clutch

The “Race” clutch completely replaces the clutch/CVT and eliminates the “wet” clutch. As the name dictates, the race clutch is designed primarily for racing applications and is not usually recommended for trail and casual riders.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced power to the wheels
  • Extreme adjustability
  • Enhanced/increased top speed
  • Better acceleration
  • Better throttle response
  • Great for closed course racing

Disadvantages:

  • Very Loud!
  • Eliminates “engine braking” (Bad for trail riding and rock crawling/good for closed course racing.)
  • Very erratic engine engagement (Bad for trails and rock crawling)
  • Will go through belts very frequently (Should have a spare w/you and be able to change it)
