We usually keep this stuff under wraps until it's ready to go, but thought it may be cool for you to check out some of the stuff we are currently working on.

This is a sampling of some of the projects that we are currently working on. At this point nothing in the R&D section is available for purchase - and may never be. Alba will not release a product for sale until we have thoroughly tested and perfected it and it meets our quality standards.

IN DEVELOPMENT

Performance
Engine Redesign
for RZR

Goal: Create a reliable race engine for RZRs
Likelihood
of production:

While trying to create additional power in the RZR motor, we found that at high RPM and under heavy load, the crank would move and flex, causing a bad vibration and ultimately damaging the connecting rod bearings.

So we've been developing a custom crank in combination with a modification to the cases.  The end result will be the addition of a center support "main bearing" for the crankshaft, eliminate the crank flexing and allow us to run the engine reliably with increased power, while sustaining higher RPMs. 

To the left, see the comparison of the stock crank v. the new custom built Alba crank. You'll notice the space for the center main bearing support - which is visible in the image above. To complete the new motor, we're perfecting a redesign for the connecting rod. We will be offering this modification within the next few months.

Rhino 660/700 Clutch Modification

Goal: Create a reliable and affordable performance clutch to compliment our race motors.

Alba Power Steering

Goal: Create race reliable power steering system

With the extended a-arms and racing set-ups, it's getting more and more difficult to control the rhino. The power steering module, which shares a pulley with the alternator, will make for easer turning and help to stabilize steering in rougher terrain for reduced fatigue.

ON HOLD

Alba Rhino Bolt-On Turbo

Goal: Produce an affordable, bolt-on do it yourself source of reliable horsepower for Rhino owners.

Likelihood of production:

We've successfully married a turbo with a rhino, got it running and have been very pleased with initial results.

SHELVED

Alba EFI for Raptor 660 & Rhino

Goal: Improve fuel delivery for the 660 motor for increased power and smoother acceleration, while creating a system that can be electronically modified for optimum performance.

Likelihood of production:none

Unfortunately the cost of production along with some snags we encountered in the development process has lead us to shelve this project and focus on newer projects.

RESEARCH

Manual Transmission for Rhino

Goal: Improve performance by allowing driver control of gear ratio for particular terrain and increased drive train efficiency.

Likelihood of production:none

Desert racers and sprinters alike agree that having a manual transmission would give them better control of overall performance delivery in racing situations. We are looking at a variety of possibilities of reliable and reasonably priced transmission options.

As a reminder, none of this is yet available and may never be. These are projects that we are currently researching....
